I have done some searching on here and pulled my abs code...its a 12. from what i understand on here thats either a parking brake (that makes no sense) or, a abs pump motor. My brake light came on first, then the abs light. the brake fluid reservoir is pretty low, while the abs reservoir is way overfilled. In light of all of this, the brakes seem to work fine, yet the abs dose not work, I locked all 4 up on way home in the rain to check it. When i took the code, my car was parked, and the car dose'nt flash the brake/abs light until you drive around a little, its late so im going to further investigate in the morning, ie drive around until the lights come on, then pull codes? any known areas for brake fluid leakage? what are common brake light causes? or is it because my fluid was low cause my abs reservoir took all of it, and in turn triggered my brake light due to low fluid level? Any help/ thoughts would be awesome- Thanks guys

I read In the Haynes manual that an over filled ABS reservoir indicates a bad pump. and since that's the code you pulled... I say get the pump replaced. Or eliminate the system... The latter is less expensive. Also the brake light isn't just for the parking break. It can also indicate a problem in the braking system. The Master cylinder being low on fluid most likely triggered the light. The reason the ABS light doesn't turn on till after you drive for a while is most likely because it doesn't know until it tries to use the pump and it fails, putting the light on.Last edited by EJX_Michael; 07-17-2008, 11:31 PM.

what happens is the system runs a self test everytime you start the car and DRIVE it. Thats why you'll hear that funny noise when you take off.The pump is not suppose to run longer than 45 seconds if I remember correctly. When it does its called pump overrun. The abs computer disables the abs when it see this. The pump will run too long if the fluid in the abs system is low. As for the parking brake if you drive the car with the PB still applied this CAN set the ABS light on.
Now code 12 does not exist techinically. It would be code 1-2. Which says pump motor circuit on the sumito abs system diagnostic chart for acura. 2-1 is parking brake switch. There reason why the PB will set the ABS off is it interferes with the job of abs. Also even though they are sepatare hydraulic circuits it is possible for the non abs side to go over into the abs side of the system. You red brake lightis most likely because of low fluid.

this is weird....
So, this morning I filled up the brake reservoir, and went for a spin to beat on the brakes. The damn thing works now..... abs and all, no trouble lights. Im guessing i have a small leak somewhere, but i cant find it. the brake pedal feels fine too, and when in the wet road i mashed the brakes and then the abs kicked in and worked fine (makes the pedal feel weird then) but i believe thats normal for abs. So, its like i have no clue. I put front brakes on the car like 2 months ago, but i never disconnected any hydraulic line to do so, nor did i see any seepage oil brake fluid anywhere when i replaced them. Im at a loss here now.....lol

It's nice in the rare occasion that things are easier to fix than you think they're going to be. So many times it goes the other way.
I'm wondering if it took you longer to type your first post than to fill the reservoir? I know I pour faster than I type....
