    staying at 2500k

    hello...

I was working on bogey2tone's car last weekend. I changed his cyl head(his old had damaged valves). I also did his timing. & fixed a CEL problem. but there is still one problem.

his car at times wants to stay accelerated. when he trys to come to a stop the car seems to want to stay at 2500k. hes been putting it in neutral every time he goes to stop. thats the only way to cancel out that problem. but even then, it accelarates back up to 2500k after he drives foward(or reverse).

    what can cause this?

Vacuum leak? Disconnect the throttle cable to rule out any cable stick. Does it surge at all? Clean the IACV. Did you replace all the intake gaskets while apart?

-make sure the throttle cable isnt adjusted too tight. ive done that plenty of times.

-check around the intake manifold. spray some type of cleaner or some other chemical around it to see if it revs up. if it does then that means theres a vacuum leak.

-make sure all your vacuum hoses are in the right order and place.

Is it an auto? Check to see if the kickdown cable is hooked up wrong or kinked somewhere.

both of you check for vacuum leaks. even a loose nut or bolt could cause air to get into the manifold and cause that high idle.

also check for broken or bad sensors on the IM. the IACV or the FITV.

question, the idle sensor or the far right(drivers side). what do I plug it into when I put on a CAI?

Try disconnecting it completely and see what happens?
