Found the answer... and a NEW problem

i took apart the throttlebody cause i didnt know what i was working with exactly. i saw the little threaded white piece inside of the iac/fiv... and it was totally unscrewed, therefore letting in air constantly. i screwed it back in and my car idled like a champ around 850.

so i drove it around... gunned it a few times, and when i came back home it was idling at 1500 AGAIN!!! wtf.

how tough is that white piece supposed to be to turn? i was able to turn it all the way in with just my finger. is it possible that its just worn out and i need a new valve? cause apparently the vibration(or something) is causing it to unthread itself...

    whatcha think?

i dont know how that thing works, but super glue it..LMAO! tighten it all the way in, i did it with a screw driver.

if not, you have to find a used one.

oh... i didnt tighten it all the way in. i did it just enough so the idle would drop, maybe that was my problem.

what an idiot i am... guess thats what i get for gettin up at 4 for work

If you are talking about the screw thingy.. go and visit the Honda part department and buy a new screw!. It shouldn't cost you too much..

if by "thingy" you mean the white plastic adjuster inside the iac... then yes.

Or you could just remove the FIV altogether and make a block off plate for it.

you know, that sounds like a good idea. curious though... how do i go about plugging off the coolant lines that i no longer need?

and im not worried about not passing smog... cause i know i never will.

I think you can just loop them together.

You can always pass smog. Come get the F22 in my backyard. Passes clean as a whistle.

i think for now ill just put hondabond on the threads and screw it back in... that should be good enough. ill worry about the plate if it happens again.

and thanks for the f22 offer, but getting a motor isnt the problem. im just lazy as shit... id rather pay to get it smogged..

i gotta take it back off to tighten it.. so i just take off the entire tb, its easier that way anyways. i dont have any room to the iac off with the tb still on the manifold. ill post pics of it all.

btw... what is it called exactly? fiv or iac????

                            ok folks...

                            well here's what i did.

disconnect the hoses and throttle cable

take off 4 nuts with a 12mm socket and unplug tps

                            take off 3 screws with a 10mm

                            what the guts look like

the infamous white "thingy". turn it clockwise until tight

how it should look after being tightened

reap the benefits: cold idle start

and the "warmed up and rippin on it" idle... gotta love the redline=)

ps: ill post this in the how-to's as well.
