Define "flame kit" Do you mean an afterburner for the exhaust? A graphics package? A series of insults designed to make someone else feel shitty about their life?

I'm assuming it's so he can spit flames out of his exhaust.
Very illegal, very dangerous, very stupid.

But, you can get a "flame kit" and a "smoke screen kit" from AutoLoc.

not if you turn it off, or something like that.

I hate to say it, but I think you're going to see some other flaming about this. But, to help with your problem.
How does it supply fuel to the tip? Is it just to ignite the unburned fuel in your exhaust from an excessively rich mixture at the instant of throttle closure? If that's the case, you're just going to get a burp. If it's like the old school guys (old school domestics, not imports) it's just going to burn off excess unburned fuel at idle, which will just give you a long kinda slow flame, not a torch and when you open throttle, it's going to burn the fuel in the engine, not the exhaust. Tell us how it hooks up, someone will be able to diagnose for you.

First let me start by explaining the theory behind the flamethrowers. I had one that worked one way and we installed one on my friend's 240sx that worked a different way.

First way is a sparkplug that is screwed into your exhaust tip, hooked up to a coil, which is hooked up to a monetary push-button switch. You push the button, sends 12v to the coil, presto you get a spark at the plug. Rev the engine to about 3-4k, push the button, rev again. Small flame at the exhaust tip. I was running header/test pipe/2.5" exhaust....the flame didn't occur everytime. If you have a catalytic converter, it won't work at all because the cat will burn up the unused gas.

Second way is similar to the first, sparkplug in the exhaust tip, hooked up to a coil, which is hooked up to a switch BUT unlike the above method, is also hooked into the ignition which will cause a delay, dumping more fuel into your engine "in theory" dumping more fuel into your exhaust. This extra fuel will give big flames. You rev the engine, push the button, rev again, shoots flames. Works better than the above method but you run the risk of engine damage from the rich condition.

Yes, they are illegal, that's why you don't do them while driving. Be in a parking lot or your driveway.

Now that I have that out of the way, let me tell you WHY it will NEVER work good on your car. These things work GREAT on turbocharged or nitrous-induced engines because of the A/F mixture. More fuel required to run a turbocharged engine means more fuel dumped into the exhaust....take out the cat and you have more flames than an N/A car. You can get it to run rich easier, which can STILL damage your engine. Nitrous....well, nitrous is highly flammable. You can see why this will work. Without either of these two, you will never shoot huge flames.

Another thing to consider is this....there are additional ways to hook the flamethrower up. Some include running an extra fuel line directly to the exhaust, you hit a button to send fuel down, the spark ignites it, you rev the engine and flames shoot out....big huge napalm-flamethrower like flames out of your exhaust. This is dangerous.

You can also hook a propane feed into your exhaust, ignite it at the tip, and nice propane flames. Wouldn't want to do this either because you run the risk of it back-feeding and your propane tank will go KABOOM and you'll be seriously injured or dead.

That concludes Flamethrowers 101. Hope I covered most of it.

Trying to do a flame kit on a PGMFI is just a waste of time. Ppl use to do this on carb'd motors. You have to use the method above w/ the spark plug. Be4 turning your car on you pump the gas...crank car on and rev the piss out of it while spark plug making spark and boom flame thrower!
But IMO they are dangerous and a waste of gas
