    Electrical Problem

I have this problem where my battery voltage gets so low that my gauges go dead and the electronics barley work. At night i have to turn off my headlights in order to be able to accelerate. My first step was to measure the voltage while the car was running. I got between 8 and 9 volts. I assumed it was the altenator because i used to have a P/S leak that dripped right into it. After replacing the altenator the problem still existed. My next step was a battery, it worked for about a week, this fixed the problem temporarily until the battery ran down again... I took the measurment again and am still getting between 8 and 9 volts...... I have a brand new altenator and battery.. im puzzled....

Your connection between the battery and the alternator has to be bad, or the alternator that you got back was either still doesnt work, happened to me before where the rebuilt alternator I got back never worked. Did you get a rebuilt one or a new one

it is rebuilt.. and tested by them (so they say).. Im thinking more of a connection problem.. because i am getting the exact readings on my voltmeter from the old altenator to the new altenator

make sure the alternator is pumping out the right amps too

what should a correct amperage reading look like?

check the resistance between the alternator and the fuse box. Also make sure all your engine grounds are good.

It could be your ELD as well.
              wat?

Hmm..Sounds like you are drawing power from somewhere. I would check for excessive parasitic load. shouldn't be more than 100ma. I dont know what the exact limit is for our cars but I would just start pulling fuses for each circuit and checking the voltage afterwards until you find the problem circuit.
