    Shifting problem

I got a 91 Accord w/ H22a swap and manual tranny. The tranny worked fine when I had my original F22 motor. After the swap that's when the problem started. The first and biggest problem is that I can't shift. I have changed the master and slave cylinders and tried to adjust the shifter cables. Still nothing. Also the car makes this horrible sound like there's something loose inside, around the release bearing/clutch area. The first time that I dropped the tranny I replaced the release bearing and made sure that the release fork is not bent. Today I dropped the tranny again and this time I took apart the clutch thinking there might be something loose inside. The clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel seems fine. They do not look worn out at all. Now my question is, are the springs on the clutch plate supposed to be free playing?
If anybody can point me in the right direction it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yes the springs move freely on the clutch disc. It does sound like your having a clutch problem. Can you move the shifter through the gears smoothly when the engine is off?
    I need a 14b or 16g turbo!

yes I can move thru the gears when the car is off. also when I start the car in first gear and try to move the car, it would move. I just can't shift, cuz once I take it out of gear it won't go in anymore.

Maybe a syncro problem in the trans. I'm not sure but thats just my guess, so when the car is off you can move through hall the gears?

yes, when the car is off I can move thru all the gears.
I just don't get how a working tranny all of a sudden not work after a motor swap.

Have you driven it since the swap?

I hate to ask this question, but just in case.... Which way did you face the clutch? I had a guy bring me an oldsmobomb that he just put a clutch in and it would not release. The raised side of the clutch center ( where the springs are) was facing the engine. The springs were hanging up on the flywheel bolts.

when I got the swap, the clutch came with the motor. It was a working clutch verified by me, because the donor car was a running car. so when the swap was done nothing had to be done to the clutch. now when I reinstall the clutch I will make sure that it is facing the correct way.

                  Now that is funny.

OP, Try bleeding the clutch fluid. There may be air in the lines. If you can get a second person to help, make sure the slave cylinder is operating when you push in the clutch. Maybe the master cylinder is failing. That can happen prematurely when you manually bleed.

master and slave cylinders are both new, just replaced them a couple of days ago. the only change it did was that bleeding wasn't as hard. although after I bled it, the clutch pedal did not feel stiff as it should with a stage 1 clutch. also does not explain the sound that's as is something is loose around the clutch area.
