    A/C Condenser and HVAC ?

I am getting ready to put A/C back into my car...cant stand the summer FL heat. All i need is lines, condenser, drier. I have a compressor still and the evap box.

Anyways, the lines i will obviously buy from a junkyard. I was told to def buy the drier from honda brand new do to it getting oxygen inside and such. Thats fine, they are about $110 from TAS genuine honda part.

My main question is this. The Condenser, they are about 75 bux brand new from an aftermarket manuf. Does the condenser matter, between new and junkyard (used)? Will my air be any colder spending more money on a new condenser vs a used one?

Thanks for your input guys. I appreciate it in advance.

Used is ok as long as there are no leaks. Only disadvantage of buying used is that over time bugs and rocks will have bent the cooling fins making it slightly less effecient. If you buy used, make sure it's leak tested. You don't want to find out there is a leak after you've paid money to have it charged.

thanks fellas. yeah im being told by a buddy to get the lines, evap (dont need), and condenser from JY. only item that is necessity to be new due to oxygen getting into it is the drier. appreciate the help. buying used condenser should save me 50-75 bux depending how cheap i can get one in a yard.

110 for a drier seems high. Check out ackits.com. I bought two from them. My vent temp yesterday was 40. With 100 outside. They also have a replacement condenser that is serpentine not tube and fin new for around 100. I think the new condenser will make the most dif. However I did not change mine but wish I did.

Notice i said a genuine honda part. Thats why its $110. I stopped at Discount/Advanced on the way home because i was told to, they are only $54. Recieving advice from a guy that just redid his whole a/c system, telling me the drier is the most important part in keeping the a/c cold. A condenser is just fins, like stated if they are clean and not bent, not cracked, it will work just the same as a new one. The amount of accords are plentiful in orlando JY's, I'm sure i can find some nice lines and a nice condition condenser no problem. Reciever/Drier coming from Advanced or Autozone.

How would a serpentine condenser even work? That doesnt seem right...especially on a honda.

I got a HG Receiver dryer for $50 from Majestic Honda for my prelude. had to pay shipping, but it works out about the same.

#17 and they are 2 diff ones, one is $90 and the other $112. Same prices for the EX as well. So i dunno how you got urs so cheap, unless the preludes are completely different.

Is your car R12 or R134? Mines R134, so if yours is R12 that would explain it.

its nothing. i dont have anything in the car right now. that was the point of this thread, to find out what i can buy used vs new.

obviously it will be 134, since the R12 is outlawed. so i dunno what the point of your post. because honda is also going to sell 134 parts, because thats all you can get. anyways, i posted straight from majestics site, and again you got lucky. they are both near $100 which is right where TAS was. and an "aftermarket" version i have been told and checked is around $60.

Either way, im convinced to get a condenser, lines, and a new drier for $100, plus a recharge which a big can should suffice for another $15. not too bad to get a/c back.

It is something, it depends on the fittings, hoses, expansion valve, and the oil in the system. R12 isn't outlawed, you can still get it and parts for R12 systems (it's just expensive).

Majestic gives you parts for what your car would originally have. If your car originally had R12, then it would give you the part for an R12 system. I don't think that Honda changed to R134a until 95 (I got mine for a 95 prelude, which was R134a. I think the 94 prelude used R12, and the condensor for it was $135). My point is, if you are going to go with R134a then you might look into getting a dryer for a car that uses R134a because it will be cheaper.

Its obvious you made up your mind already and don't know very much about AC. the condensor is where the heat exchange takes place, hence one of the most important parts of the AC. The drier I have is this one https://www.ackits.com/pc/37-13395/H...-+Import+Drier It works just fine, do you know what the drier's purpose is. I think probably not. It is to remove condensation from the system. If you feel like paying 100 for an OEM drier Have at it is your money. I am merely stating that I have the above drier and get vent temps of 40-44 degrees with 100 deg temps which is pretty good.
Most of the newer cars have serpetine condensors. They are better at cooling down the freon.

jesus, what is ur deal? do you not read at all? i said i was buying an aftermarket one i dunno how many times i said that. the reason i wasnt buying a condenser is becuase i was told a used one is fine. i do know the purpose of a condenser and i do the know the purpose of a drier. though i didnt ask those questions in this thread, i was simply asking a specific route i could take. i was told by a local buddy that used lines, used condenser, and a new drier (aftermarket) will suffice. from what i am told, by him and others local here, his a/c is ice cold, which is here in orlando where its just as hot as where you are at. i will check out your website and if the drier is cheaper than discount/autozone i will go for it. depending on how cheap the condenser is ill check them out and just buy a "package" from them. thanks for the help man.
