    stupid fan not working

I got my ac recharged today. Standing in front of the car looking at it where the battery is on the left, the only fan that is coming on is the one on the right the closest to the alternator Im not sure but doesnt both suppose to turn on with the ac working? My air compressor is fine it comes on. I jumped the fan motor it works just fine. So where should i start to see whats the problem. I think the fan closest to my alternator is the Cooling fan right? but the funny thing is when i pull the Condensor fan fuse the fan closest to the alternator shuts off

That's because the fan closest to the alternator is the Condensor Fan.

And no, they are not both supposed to come on with the A/C on. Your A/C seems to be working fine, as far as the fan and compressor clutch go.

I have the same problem. I only have 1 fan thats working and its the cooling fan. When my ac is on only that fan turns on, isn't both fan suppose to turn on when the thermo stat opens up?? please someone jump on this and correct me if im wrong.

Uhhh, I don't know what cars you've worked on, but EVERY car I've ever seen (except those with clutch fans) has both fans come on with the A/C.

            I've worked on:

            1986 Honda Accord LX
            1987 Honda CRX DX
            1993 Honda Civic EX-3Dr
            1993 Acura Integra GS
            1997 Honda Accord EX-V6
            2001 Honda Civic EX-Sedan
            1990 Honda Accord EX-Sedan

Both fans can run simultaneously, but if they do not run simultaneously, this is not a sign of a malfunction; since it is normal for the fans to run independently.

From my experience, with our cars, both fans should come on when you turn on the a/c. Remember the condensor is in front of the radiator, unlike civics where they have a half sized radiator, and the condensor is right next to it, which the condensor fan is then directly on.

The fan that isn't working for you, is the radiator fan. Either a relay, or thermal switch is not engaging the fan like it should.

Closest to the battery = Radiator Fan = Passenger Side
Closest to the alternator = Condensor Fan = Driver Side

Turn on the car, and leave the a/c off. Let it run for a good 5-10 minutes, until the thermostat opens up, and the lower radiator hose becomes hot. Watch your temperature gauge to make sure the car doesn't over heat, and wait for the radiator fan to come on. The radiator fan should come on at 190*F (a little below halfway on your dash gauge), the condensor fan should kick on at 210*F if i remember correctly (which would put your dash gauge at around the 3/4 mark). Redzone is 230+*F. Thats provided someone hasn't tampered with the wiring, and everything is designed to run as Honda intended.
Both fans should come on when you press the a/c button.
