    S13 or CB7?

for the longest time (over 2 years to be exact), i've always wanted a 240sx, preferably an S13 hatch model w/ an SR. but as we all know, the media has been following the drifting scene, and 240's have been the next big thing. looking back, i realized that im not all that hyped up about it when i 1st wanted one. in the time period when i was looking for a 240, i've always have my trusty 1990 automatic 4dr CB7. thats when it hit me -

why not trade it in for the same car just a 2dr, manual version?

i've seen the potential the H22 by just spectating the forums. and what had also boosted my confidence of a CB7 w/ an H22 is just by looking @ yall's cars. i love my accord - why not make it into a project? whats yall's inupt on this? how reliable is the H22 and how much of a difference will it be compared to a SR20DET? thx guys, and thank god for this site

Its very reliable I have one myself its not so bad, But if you build it or turbo it you will definitely whuhp some ass. People will ask you questions like damn boy WTF! you got in there I couldnt keep up with you .

Just seeing the looks on their faces gettin beat by a an accord not to mention 4-door at that gets you more respect and plus you stand out a bit to hehehe especially in vtec mode just dont drive like a jack-ass.

Youll notice a couple of times that when you run the car that you wont be able to stop on a dime thats alotta power. I say swap it into a manual do the swap and be done with it it makes no sense if you already love that car got another one then be like I loved my old accord and put a h22 in there.

I say forget the 240sx sure it would be great in the long-run to have but an h22 with mods is priceless especially on insurance. Id be damned if i gotta pay for a sportscar insurance go h22 jspec all the way bro just keep up the faith

Definitely S13. Looks better, esp. with J-spec Silvia front-end swap. Plus, there's that whole SR20DET thing. Oh yeah, can't drift FWD!

Doesn't mean the Accord's slow or handles badly. But it cannot drift. Trust me, I've tried! However, in the Accord:

        [1] You'll get more looks.
[2] Cheaper, on EVERYTHING. Parts, mods, insurance, gas.
[3] H22 with mods in VTEC sounds hella sexy. Girls luv it!

I have three friends with S13s. All three have SR20DET swaps. The one with the least amount of mods is putting down 250+ hp to the rear wheels. That's boosted H22 territory.

I'm sorta in the same quandry...but with an EK hatch Civic. I love my CB7...it's awesome. It has like everything. My Accord is a white 2 door...but unlike many of them; it's a 5 speed. I love the thing. The only thing I don't like is it just looks kinda Grandma-ish. I realise it has alot of potential for speed but it looks odd. I also love the EK hatches...they're so clean. I love the JDM goodness that is possible with the EK. Oh well. Back to your point. I also, like you, was considering trading my CB for a 240...they're really sweet. I decided against it due to the media move on drift. The media ruins EVERYTHING!!! Oh well. Basically do what you feel is best...

Its nice and all but who has the time to drift on the streets or highways racing another car comon what in the spare time in the parking lot. Lord help ya if you dont have the skill to counteract if something goes wrong and nicely drift into the back of another car or into a wall. not to mention Id take the CB& and build it.

Less hassle more available parts reliability, less on car insurance, sleeper look, until in vtec yeah but if you look at it you get a srd20 swap good luck tryin to find parts for those especially in the junkyards there not alot of em as for a cb7 heh they are everywhere take your pick . As for the EK's they are nice but too freakin comon everyone with a civic nowadays with a loud ass muffler dropped springs and stickers think they are fast for some reason ill i hit the crossover and its a wrap. I say get the swap turbo it ,TURBO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! build it up and turbo it again.

^^^exactly! Great minds think alike! Most NORMAL drivers don't have enough skill to maneuver a drift ride...let alone fix a problem mid-drift.

                S13

dont get me wrong i LOVE my CB7 coupe and hope to never say goodbye to her, but if you got the chance i'd go for the S13...i mean talk about full on JDM....and the fact you can drift..or atleast learn to drift...somewhat...but you can work on it and get better...everything is practice..cornering a FWD or drifting a RWD it's all trial and error...and the availability of JDM and performance parts is outstanding...me, now i know its played out now b/c of Initial D, love that anime, i have always wanted the Toyota Corrolla GT-S twin cam Trueno hatchback model....but still i won't get rid of my CB7 coupe..nope never gonna do it....

LOL Its the really bad ones that initiate the drift well. I also thought about one the other day because of the countless # of axels I went through, but i like the way the older ones look.

actually, most of the coupe models were manual transmission.

anyways - sothea_sun: it's hard to tell YOU what to get. but i will say that i have never considered selling my cb7 or trading it in. i just think that it would be much more respectable to see an old cb7 (car that wasn't meant to be fast) running the same times as that sporty S13 that you're thinking about buying.

i was thinking about getting a 240 hatch when i was shopping for my car but i don't like popup headlights and i like fwd
i would say build up that 4door
and y0 when shit breaks on the SR20 you can't just go to a garage and get it fixed you need parts from japan
so there's always that to think about

                          FWD got its advantages too

For some peeps like me, where I'm from, snow is also one factor to take into consideration. RWD arent good for snow (thats my point of view). FWD have alittle more traction on the snow. Unless if you live in a place with no snow....RWD or FWD is ur choice.

i thought RWD was better for traction in winter conditions.

From where I'm from, alot of peoples say driving with FWD has better snow traction, b/c the engine and the wheels spinning at the front makes it alittle more heavier so more traction. Thats only my point of view, maybe I could be wrong.
