    dome light stays partially on

alright so my dome light burned out recently and i replaced the bulb with an LED one from ebay that is the same 12v type that came off my car.
so i dont know if this happened before, but when i close my door, the light is partially lit, until i open the door then it comes on fully. the only way i can keep the light off is if i switch it to the off position.

My corner lights do the same stuff. I wouldnt stress it man. That LED only draws milliamps. Wont hurt anything.

maybe the switch that signals when your door is shut is a little off alignment? Either check there, or just leave it switched off until needed. thats what I do with mine.

i think the switch on the door should be fine because the door courtesy light and the light in the gauge cluster both don't come on.

It should turn off immediately. Your door triggers could be going bad, or else the LED is picking up low voltage that a normal filament bulb would not. I would inspect each door trigger to make sure the connection is good and there's no corrosion around the screw hole. The screw that holds the trigger in is what conducts the ground signal from the tigger to the body sheet metal.

If that's all ok, only thing I could think of would be to wire a diode in line with the negative wire at the dome light. This would block any ground signal from back feeding to the light.

EDIT: Sorry, the two posts above mine weren't there when I started typing. I guess ignore most of the first part and try a diode.

Hum. Good observing. My only guess is it is teh dome light itself. maybe removing it and giving it an inspection for corrosion or something might be helpful?
