    Icebox? Crackpipe?

Has anyone heard of this I snooped around the site looking for it but I couldn't find anything on it.

My friend was talking about how on the web there is an icebox set up for his vw(Which is really sick btw) that makes c02 go into the intake and give a lot more power due to the decrease in temperature.

Anyone done this on the forum?

It's not CO2, CO2 distinguishes flames and would kill his motor. Sounds more like a water methanol kit which I believe does that, or a NOS setup would definitely do that. I think there is some way to use dry ice which gives off CO2 to cool your engine, but it can't go into the intake. I can't remember what it is I've heard about dry ice being used, I think it gets used on the intercooler or something? Not 100% sure.

        It doesn't "distinguish", it extinguishes.

A co2 setup uses co2 (obviously) to cool the intake piping, and is usually used in conjuction with an intercooler (for the broader surface area). They're usually about the same price as an n2o setup, but cheaper on the refills.

With enough carbon dioxide (CO2) gas running through that small pipe, icing may become an issue. Normally, atmospheric moisture is sufficiently dilute that it does not hinder or quench the combustion cycle. Hoping the water ice formed on those coils sublimates past liquid water at atmospheric pressure is pure folly. Passing nitrous oxide (N2O) through the same system may be a better, though may result in the same icing. I have seen some systems use an ice water reservior, those seem safer and cheaper to use/maintain.

Couldn't we use a Liquid nitrogen set up just to cool the air or something using liquid nitrogen. I heard it's just the air you want cool.

you want to carry around a couple-hundred-dollar double-walled container to keep that liquid nitrogen in? theoretically yes you could do it, but it isnt worth it. that shit is fun to play with though!

I'm thinking the velocity of the air coming in the intake would be too fast to have any noticeable cooling effect on the air.
