It's getting colder outside so I've decided to break down and fix my heat issue. Here's the deal: Back in March we had a warm front come through which caused me to switch my temperature knob over to cool. Then it became cold again so I tried to switch it back over to warm, but the knob froze up and then something inside/behind the HVAC controls snapped audibly. There used to be a certain amount of tension in the switch/knob when I'd change from cool to warm, warm to cool, but after I heard the "snap," there was very little resistance in the knob. I took that to mean I broke whatever the knob's shaft went into.
Does this mean I'll have to replace the entire HVAC control box or could it be something else other than the control box?
