To drop weight, I'm thinking carbon fiber(hood, trunk lid) painted to match my car. Anyone know how much my stock hood weighs?

dude removing all the speakers and headunit would do what like... 9 mabye 10 lbs at the most? imo that would make the car uninhibiatable and strictly for the track.

Yeah, I think you are taking the weight reduction a little too far. As a rule of thumb 100 pounds off the body will take .1 seconds off of your quarter mile time. So removing the speakers and radio isn't going to do anything except make it crappy to ride in. Same with the cruise control thing ... that can't be too much weight, but if it doesn't work or something then no biggy. I know that taking out the a/c and power steering stuff will give you a lot of extra power and free up about 75 pounds or so if you get all the lines and stuff too. It's definitely worth while to do some weight reduction though because it does make a difference.

thats it?!?!??! 100lbs for .1 second?? what a waste of time... i could get better results just building up the motor.

and kdub, that i know of, they dont make cf trunks.

Well it's not exactly that ... it's just a rule of thumb. For my car I figured it would take off about .12 seconds or so for each hundred pounds. You could probably get 300 pounds off of the cb7 while still maintaining it as a comfortable daily driver. That's close to half a second so that's nothing to look down on man. The best thing about it is that it's a free mod!! Building your engine costs a lot of money... If it's free there is nothing to complain about.

"and kdub, that i know of, they dont make cf trunks." [/B][/QUOTE] Well I know they make them for 5th gen. 2drs. and 90-93 Integras. I thought I saw one for a 4th gen. on ebay 6 months ago, could just be my imagination. They make them for a bunch of different cars though. Most of the ones I saw on ebay are made by ViS.

Yea, removing little things in my opinion just take the fun from the ride...but if you want weight reduction I'd hit the big stuff first like

                power steering
                a/c components
lightweight hood & trunk lid (ie. carbon fiber or whatever)
front & rear bumper supports (if u really wanna be ballzy)...if ya do this may as well put roll cage & replace sheet metal with fiberglass
                replace sunroof glass w/something lighter
                replace all glass w/something lighter
                small lightweight rims
                remove rear seats
                replace front seats w/light ones
                remove carpeting if ya want.

as for radio, cruise....won't make any diff but like someone said, make ur ride more boring, etc

somethings are worth their weight when it comes to a daily driver. like the radio.

something starnge is that i took out my spare tire, and the carboard-like piece in my trunk, and my backseats, and everything i had setting around in the car, like sweatshirts, a blanket, lots of cd's.... well i went to the track last night and i ended up getting a 16.4 about 6 runs in a row. previous time there all i could muster was like a 16.62 best or something. now, i know that the 60 pounds total or so couldn't give me that much help, but im glad my best et.'s for stock went down.

                  automatic
                  slow

                  but its clean!..kinda

dont do this if u have a daily driver, me, i have 2 plan to get a 3rd, so my main cb7's an all out race mobile in the making, so im cool with gutting it, but seeing all the wires all over the place....diferent story, had to cover it up.

I weigh 180 lbs and when I rode in my friend's RX7 in the 1/8th, it slowed him down .3 seconds. Also, I've heard that 50 lbs will drop .1 off, don't know if it's true or not. Probably depends on the car and the setup exactly how much weight reduction will help.
