    IACV is making me angry...

I'm running a super oddball intake manifold, and it works but it's finally driving me nuts. I used a thick paper gasket to block off the IACV because it's some weird three wire design that I couldn't get to work, and leaving it installed just caused a bouncy idle like a vacuum leak. However, now that it's blocked off and doesn't act like a vacuum leak when I start up the car it tries to idle real low and like crap if I don't keep my foot on the pedal until it warms up. Once it warms up it idles at about 800 RPMs and stays there. Having to sit and rev my car so it can idle when it's cold though is really annoying me, especially since it's starting to get cold out.

I'd rather not have to swap out the plenum, and I'm not sure if the lack of the FITV is hurting it, so I'd like to know if anybody has ever heard of this three wire IACV, if anybody else has blocked off their IACV, or if anybody knows any other causes for a horribly rough idle. If I have to swap the plenum I guess I will, I'd just rather not cause it's really clean looking.

is there a performance reason you're using an oddball IM or what?

if you know what you have, you could find the wiring diagram for it somewhere online i'm sure, or just find someone who is better with that stuff and they'd probably tell you what you need to do to hook it up properly.

maybe you had it hooked up properly but it just needed calibration or was just bad. they're just an annoying piece of equipment in general
....and on the 7th day, deevergote rested and called his mom.

I'm guessing that your using an F23 intake manifold or similar. Here is a quick fix to the three wire IACV problem. Use your OEM 2 wire with this adapter plate from Blacktrax. http://www.blacktrax.net/products/In...r_Adapter.html

As for the FITV being an issue. I ran my Accord for three winters without a FITV. As long as you have an operational IACV. You'll be OK without the FITV.

I bought the manifold on ebay thinking that an h23 manifold is an h23 manifold is an h23 manifold, but apparently I was wrong. The one I got was a weird JDM h23 manifold, and I can't even identify the IACV to get a new one. I mean, I don't even know where to get replacement JDM parts.

The alternative, I have no idea how I could get this done, but I'd need some kind of an adapter plate to make the original style IACV work with the new style.

Oops, posted before you responded. But sweet! That's exactly what mine looks like, it's from a h23 vtec, an odd variation of it at that. I hate to pay 35 bucks for a piece of aluminum, but it's gonna be worth it once it gets cold out. Unless someone online actually knows how to run that IACV, haven't found the answer so far. Now to figure out the won't rev past 4000 issue. The IACV could maybe be the problem, not sure. I know the TPS is right.

There is no way to run a 3 wire IACV on a two wire IACV/ECU setup. If you have access to a drill or drill press and a 1/4 thick piece of aluminum/steel you could probably measure, cut and drill your own adapter plate.... based off the design of the blacktrax one.

Another thing you might want to look for is if your H23A VTEC IM has the fuel injection air control system. (FIA) It is a set of small holes that are drilled into the injector bung to allow for more air to be introduced by the FIA control system. It can also act as a vacuum leak if it has these holes and they are not blocked. (Your IM gasket may be blocking these off already.

Here is a pick of a 94-95 F22B1 Intake with the FIACS.

If you don't have these or they are already blocked off, your good to go.

Used runners from an a6 manifold so that should be safe. I could get a drill and do it, but I suppose I'll go with the CNC machined thing for the sole fact that it's gonna fit better and I don't want a big square piece of metal looking like crap, especially since I've only kept the thing because of the smoothness and lack of an FITV and such.

Can't believe this. That plenum uses a different variation of the IACV with a different mounting pattern. So that adapter plate won't work. I'm gonna use it as a base to make another plate using the same holes, maybe that'll get it to work.
