does it have a idle problem as well ? have you ever had your main relay changed? whats the mileage ?

Is it standard or automatic? Does it feel like you're stalling or does it just die?

what's your idle rpm with everything off? try turning on the headlights with the high beams on and then see if your idle rises about 25-50 rpm. it could be the IACV

No, you need to find and fix the problem before you swap intakes. When was the last time it was tuned up? Plugs, cap, rotor button, wires, PCV valve? Go through and check all your vacuum lines and connections, especially at the brake booster, since you said it dies out when you hit the brakes. You should be idling at about 720, not 500.

What about if you come to a complete stop and rev it in neutral does it still die?
