Good lift points for hydraulic Jack and stands

Whenever I need to lift my car with my hydraulic jack I have always used the 4 standard lift points near the wheels. But lately I have been wondering if I should even be doing that anymore based on the fact that the car is 18yrs old, winter driven every year of its life, and not sure what kind of corrosion is behind the plastic rocker panels. What other safe places are there on the frame to jack the car from the sides, rear and front?

    Thanks

The 4 standard points are the best. I usually jack by that point and place the stand directly under the subframe bolt closest to the sway bar. I also sometimes lift the whole front of car by the front center tow hook to put stands under the rocker points. You can use a piece of wood between the jack and jack up by the flat part of rear subframe too. If you have a rear sway bar you can put the wood so it spreads weight to the sway bar brackets and just jack up by the sway bar.

Does anyone know of the rocker points becoming weakened over time by corrosion or is that not a problem with this car?

If your lift points are rusty enough for concern that your car really shouldn't be on the road. I've never seen one of those rusted bad enough where i would not lift a car with one.

The only question i have is, if you jack it up with the lift point then where do you put the jack stands? I always stuck them on certine floor board peices that look reinforced
