Good source for GM Syncromesh Friction Modified

Just ordered myself 4 quarts of it! The item description does not say it is friction modified but I have verified the GM part number, it's the good stuff!

    LINK

I'm going to switch to this and see if my super-quick-shift into 2nd grind goes away. I have been using OEM Honda after trying Royal Purple MTF and Pennzoil Syncromax (crap). I was under the impression the Pennzoil and GM fluids were the same until I was enlightened very recently so I'm going to give the real GM fluid a try and post results!

you can find gm syncromesh on your local autoparts (over here), definately something better than 10-30w, but might not help on that grind
it will definitely feel 3 times better

im using valvoline with LSD additive

All we have in Pennzoil brand Syncromax which is a copy of the GM Syncromesh and not as good from what I heard/read recently. Dealer price for the friction modified is ~$16 per quart.

I have nor never will put regular engine oil in my tranny! The Honda MTF made a huge difference over the Royal Purple so my hopes aren't TOO high that the Syncromesh will improve on the Honda much but it's time for a fluid change and I figured why not try?

The Pennzoil copy is not the same as the fricition modified version. The FM version is very good at getting rid of notchy shifts and grinds.

Its actually better than the new shitty honda MTF.

I switched from brand new honda fluid to the FM in a 6 speed accord and never looked back.

Also. The last order I made, I paid $128 shipped for 13 bottles.

its about 11 bucks a quart at my local GM dealer using my discount tire account discount. How often are you supposed to change it anyways? 30k? or 15k?

All I know is the Pennzoil fluid available in stores does not have the "friction modifier" (which is a zinc additive) that supposedly makes these Honda trannys smoother.

I think the manual says 30k but most suggest as often as 15k for extreme duty (hard driving)

I used Autozone Pennzoil Synchromesh on my H23 trans that would grind 3rd and 5th pretty heavily. I would slowly engage the gears that were grinding and after 2 days I had no more grinds. I haven't had grinds since January. So in my opinion, I wouldn't bother buying the GM stuff because what I used worked excellent for me. $7 a bottle.

There is a big difference between the regular fluid and the more expensive friction modified version.

The regular Pennzoil fluid you get in the yellow bottles on the shelves are not the same as the friction modified version of the GM fluid. Even if they make the GM fluid you will not find the friction modifiers in the regular yellow bottles.
