    clutch gone?

so tonight i was driving home from my local meet, i got to the stopsign to merge, it was wet out, i semi-launched and spun first-second and then drove normally. i then got it to fifth, and gave some gas to pass someone, and the revs went up to 6 but i went nowhere(mind you, the road was soaked,) and i started to smell a burning smell. i babyed my car home, and took it around the block where the road was much dryer, no slipping or burning smell. it only happened on the highway that one time. could my clutch be gone? it grabs normally and doesnt slip when i get on it at all...any help would be appreciated

oh and its a f trans open diff

Take your car out to the highway, put it in 5th and floor it. If the revs go up and the speed doesn't your clutch is finito.

Also w/your next clutch... it would prob be a good idea NOT to do burnouts randomly

If the clutch still works, it's not gone. You probably did some damage to it, though. A clutch is very much like a brake pad. When it's overheated, it won't work as it's supposed to. When it slips regularly, then it's done.

Unless you're running some heavy mods, all you need is a quality OEM replacement... Exedy would be my choice.

Exedy Stage 1 is a perfect replacement for OEM. Might as well get a Fidanza 8lb flywheel, since you like having "fun"

Thats the exact setup I've got in my H22 and its VERY fun Clutch effort is not much greater than OEM, so you won't have an overly toned left calf. DDing takes a bit more work though since the flywheel is much lighter than stock, 22lbs vs 8lb makes taking off initially a bit harder.

I think I paid 260 shipped for my Stg 1 clutch and 155 shipped for the flywheel.

You'll probably need to resurface your stock flywheel anyways when you replace the clutch, so its only about a 100 more for this one. Plus when it comes time to replace your clutch again...this fidanza flywheel has replaceable friction material so you won't have to get it machined.
