    Internal Noise

Whats up everyone! Just finished swapping my H22 into my second honda haha. Engine has lasted longer than the first car. But I may have spoke too soon. The noise seems to be internal. When the clutch is pressed in it stops. It sounds like a chattering sound. Only does it at idle, when i give it some throttle it stops as well. Thanks in advance to my CB7 family!!

Side note, It was making the same noise in my old car, I decided to swap it out because I thought it was the tranny finally going, but that didnt fix it

probably your input shaft bearing. If the noise goes away when you push in the clutch.

It seems that he has already swapped the transmission with another. I think the pilot bearing is bad.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think your right on the pilot bearing. I'm kicking myself right now...please dont make my mistake in not replacing parts when doing swaps or maintenance. I used the same bearing because it only had 15000 miles or so. Its from autozone so I DEFINETELY sould have known better!!!

15k on a bearing? ive swapped out clutches with 20k on it because it is so cheap and itll save you a headache.

most if not all flywheels ive seen dont have a pilot bearing but a bushing. it shouldnt be making noise.

sounds like a loose fork. if you rest your foot on the clutch pedal does it go away?
check the fork and if it is bad, replace the fork and pivot ball.

Ok so not the throw out bearing. I drove it around some more to figure it out and after revving up past 3000 and let off the it makes a crazy grinding noise! Sounds like the lower drivers side. I'm gonna pull the motor again, oil pan and check the lower end see what I see. This blows

Bump for troubleshooting. I had it idling in the garage, makes the noise until clutch is pressed in, then stops. I had my daughter hold the clutch in and I revved it under the hood and it makes the sound again when revving. I didnt want to tear into the whole thing and I wanted suggestions before I pull the damn engine again haha

do you want us to say, "It's not transmission related?"

That wouldn't really help me if someone did say that. What I'm looking for is someone with experience tearing into the bottom end and telling me what they know. I have no idea. Ive been with CB7tuner a long time and I'm all about getting my hands dirty, but I'm just looking for some suggestions before I go at it again....its getting old honestly

if you put the clutch in, it stops the transmission, not the pressure plate, flywheel, crank, timing belt, camshafts and valves.
