Is the cigarette lighter replaceable?

Is the cigarette lighter replaceable? The one in my car is not working. When I push it in it pops back out. If I hold it in it doesn't heat up. I don't smoke so it's not a big deal if it doesn't work or it isn't replaceable.

Sounds like you just need a new lighter. Like, the part you push in. Mine stopped working/locking in, so I just bought another one and it works.

Yes, the whole thing is replaceable if it turns out it's the socket. If the trim ring around it isn't broken already, get ready for it to be broken when you take it out. The harness unclips from the car and also has a light for the ashtray.

My entire unit doesn't work /: I can't even get it out either! But what you're talkin about IS replaceable.

Hella luck your cig lighter still works! My parents said mine went out in 1999 and they still never got it fixed -_-

stick your thumb in it and turn the inside part counter clockwise, like you're undoing a screw. The trim piece for the cig lighter (illuminated ring) on the outside stays in place by a black plastic piece that has 2 plastic nubs going into the dash trim. The illuminated ring itself locks into the metal housing of the cig lighter with 1 nub if I recall correctly.

either way, in order to replace the entire cig. lighter, you'll have to remove the radio to get access to the power lead and plug going into the backside of it.
