Would this be a bad starter?

My CB said it was over heated when I was sitting at an idel so I gave it gas and when I did the temp droped back down to where it should of have been? I dont understand this. But after that I parked to check it out and then went to start my car and got nothing but the grind of a dead battrey. After a failed jump I ran it down to auto zone to test it and they said it was just dead? but I then bought a new $120 battery put it in and got nothing but a click from the start? Any ideas people? Does it mean my start went out? We tested the start and it engages and turns but the car will not turn over at all it just has a click from the starter?
It ran fine the other day I put the battrey in the trunk and now all of this? Any help would be great I need to have this car running by the end of the day... Its my only car right now soo helppp!! lol
    thanks guys

It over heated? I'd try and turn the motor over by hand just to make sure the motor isn't locked up. Otherwise is the battery ground good? Make sure the started is grounded as well and check to see if it's getting power.

what size wire did you run from the battery in the trunk to the front? I'm using 2ga, but 4 is ok too. Anything more than that and you won't have enough current flow.

At times, your thermostat can stick, causing your temp gauge to rise. When you give it gas, you increase the coolant pressure as your water pump is driven by the timing belt. That additional pressure helps the thermostat pop open allowing your coolant to flow through the engine. The temp sensor/fan switch is right after the thermostat which would explain why the temp dropped immediately afterwards.

I would consider replacing the thermostat, and doublechecking the wiring you did for your battery relocate.

Well we got it stated we had to run a ground from the block to the frame of the car itself but its running again

I ran 2 gage but we fixed it by running another ground from the block to the frame itself. It started right up

But thats what my dad said as well so I'll prolby pick up a new thermostat as well and put that on my next day off just have to get it to last that long O.o
