i stripped the threads in the hole that holds the arm in place on the balance belt tensioner. the bolt stays in place but won't tightened down fully. should i rethread this hole? and with what? helicoil or time-sert?

Yes, repair it somehow for sure. Either of those methods will work fine for this. It isn't under a ton of pressure but you definitely don't want it to slip...a time sert WILL hold better than helicoil IMO but not sure you really need that much.
Your only option would be stepping up in bolt diameter but that would involve drilling a larger hole in the tensioner, probably not a good idea.My Member's Ride Thread
