    Replacing the oil pump

So about a week or so ago, the oil light in my wife's cb came on. I checked oil and it wasn't low at all. The pressure switch has been replaced not too long ago, maybe a year at most. Then I started to see a few small oil spots in the driveway. I got up under there today and didn't see any evidence of oil leaking around the switch and the connection was good. I drove to town to drop off some stuff at the post office and came back. When I went to leave for work tonight I noticed a larger oil spot with fresh oil.

So I'm assuming the worst and believe I've got a leaking oil pump. Who all have had to replace the oil pump and what are complications that come with it?

This is what i got, Oil pump and gasket, water pump, balance shaft seals and retainer, timing and balance shaft belts, water pump gasket, tensioner spring, tensioner, idler, and thats all i can remember off the top of my head. I followed the DIY on here for the water pump and it went pretty smooth last week. I had a friend who recently did the oil pump on his civic help me with the oil pump.

You got all that plus the oil pump? Guess I'm not following you because you didn't list it. Was it difficult replacing the timing belt and getting it in time? I ask because I don't have a timing light.

This is probably the most extensive work I've had to do on a cb7, so I'm kinda seeing what complications people with basic hand tools ran into along the way.

Edit - Sorry, replied before you edited your post.

The timing i hate because im so paranoid i have to check over and over again. I put it in tdc to start with, changed all the belts, seals and everything, then checked tdc again, put the timing belt on and checked tdc again. It has run great for the last 300 miles this week. Even got me to meet another member from KC.

For the oil pump this helped us out alot.

^^^ The one person posted " its a tight fit to do with the engine inside the car but its doable" I totally agree.

Thats for a CD5 but its completly the same. We checked this over and over before we did anything. I bought a new oil pump pickup tube and screen (my dad wouldnt get off my ass about it yet all he wanted to do was drink beer all day). That cost me $120.

So if I be sure to mark everything before removal, it shouldn't be out of time when I put it back together? Like I said, I don't have a timing light, so if I can avoid having to use one, that'd be great.

I just did mine about a month ago. Along with my first timing belt and water pump, and headgasket job ever. Its not hard at all as long ad you set tdc properly you should be fine.
