Starter will not work when cold

Okay, so my car has been doing this for about 3 days now and its starting to really get annoying.. When my car is cold my starter will not engage at all.. I will bump start it and it runs just fine.. then, as long as the car is warmed up my starter works fine without any issues at all.. Whats going on?

Yes. The battery is completely fine.. I had been beating on the starter and its got it to start a couple times that way.. It makes no sense.. My car starts just fine now after i have ran it for awhile.. it can chill for a couple hours and start just fine.. but if i leave it for 8 hours or so.. no go.. What the hell

operating temp. shouldnt make that happen, thats really odd but ive had it happen to me with a Chevy.

to me it sounds like the starter is going out?

I had an old Chevy Suburban, and i had to whack its starter to get it to start or bump it and after driving it it'd start fine until it sat for a few hours then i was back to whackin it or bump starts.

After i replaced the starter never saw the problem again, the tech behind the counter at NAPA said it had something to do with the pos. terminal on the starter being broken inside the starter itself making it connect intermittintly(spelled that wrong i bet lol)

how that makes any sense is beyond me because it always started fine after till it cooled down lol

check battery connections. i replaced the one in my suby with an optima yellow and it still wouldn't start sometimes.

turns out the connections still had a lot of corrosion.

perhaps the conection on the starter is just dickered? sounds like the cold is contracting the metal in the wire and destroying the connection. when it warms up it makes a better connection and it runs just fine.
