    Front Brake Knocking Sound

    Hey guys,

I just replaced my front rotors and brake pads last week and now when I apply the brakes, I hear a 'knocking' sound every now and then. When I apply the brakes a bit harder, the knocking sound is louder. The sound is relative to the amount of pressure I'm applying the brakes at.

    Rotors: Brembo Ventilated Discs
    Pads: Hawk HPS Pads

    Any ideas?

    Make sure everything is tight.
I've had it once where the rotors loosened themselves.
I was on vacation. Luckily, they did it after I arrived, and not on the 250 mile journey.

Make sure everything is properly torqued. Grease the caliper pins. Pads are seated in the brackets. Calipers move freely. Piston not frozen. Correct matched parts.

      Good luck

it sounds like its coming from the caliper brackets not being tightened down enough on the knuckle.

Either way, stop driving immediately and get that fixed. You don't want to not have brakes when you need them.

This... It happened to me last summer on my other Accord. I finished a brake job and thought I torqued everything down. I missed one bolt on my caliper bracket. It would make a clunking sound everytime the brakes were applied. It was the Caliper and the Bracket banging into my rotor from the missing nut.

You will want to check the rotor out on the side it is doing it on also.

I took it to the shop to have it looked at and the mechanic just tightened up all the bolts and nuts regarding the brake components. No charge! After that the brakes worked fine.

Before the tightening, my brakes felt loose. I could press down on the brake pedal and feel not a whole lot of resistance. But after re-tightening, the brake pedal now feels a lot tighter and no more knocking noise that goes with it!

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies.
