Okay so for those who have been paying attention to my recent car woes, I've recently replaced my headgasket, timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and misc seals. My friend who helped me out said that upon doing the tensioner(Kaizenspeed) he noticed the pulley needed replacement as well. Other than that he was able to get timing near dead on. The motor runs fine, but it's sluggish under 3000rpm. My friend is suggesting it's ignition timing so maybe that it's retarded too much? He also suggested with the headgasket being blown previously that maybe it just needed a simple tune up. I had time to replace the plugs(no change in performance), since they were white anyways from the overheating; but with all the work I've done really didn't have the funds to do a cap and rotor right away.
Now I'm no expert on timing but would this be an issue that could be handled by tuning? Or does the belt need to be taken off and and the motor retimed from scratch? With the engine being as "healthy" as it is I would like to get it on the dyno and try to see what I can get out of it. But no need to do so if this is an issue that has to be resolved first.
