whats the best way to clean filthy engines

ok so I purchased 2 motors from a good friend of mine. he had plans of doing the swap in his civic but he ended up doing time. 6 months went by and he finally got out. he offered to take 600 for both motors and a Fidanza flywheel. I couldn't refuse.

ok so he had these motors sitting under tarps on top of leaves and such in his back yard for a lil more than 6 months. I have them in my garage now but how should I go about cleaning them. my biggest concern is getting the blue top cleaned up and ready to drop into my cb7, the H22 has a spun rod BTW.

        Mean green does wonders
Grab some wire brushes and clean off the smaller parts

20 year old diesel fuel tank.

It acid when you mix it with water. Burns my nostrils but it cleans. Don't leave it on. Spray and scrub then rinse.

i bought "hot shot" off a detailing truck, i mixed it half/half with water and the grease and dirt literally melts away. my skin even started to get a reaction from it being too strong. my hands are pretty tough too.
