    The overhead light

Mine rarely works when I open my doors.
If I hit it many times, it will come on.
Sometimes if I turn it to the on position, it will come on as well. But it usually requires hitting.
Does this sound like a wiring issue or the light module itself?

It depends on where you need to hit to make it work,,,,.
If you need to hit the switch area on the door, your contacts on switch has rust that preventing voltage to go through. Spray WD-40 and wiggle it. That usually takes care of it.
Mine was doing the same thing as yours. And I did the above. It's been good for I don't know how many years.

If you need to hit the area of light, your light socket may have corrosion, that it needs cleaning and WD-40 treatment.
Or, the filament of the bulb is just hanging, making intermittent connection, which shall be as easy as replacing it.

It's the area of the light itself.
I know the door sensors work, because the door lights come on.

I'll give your WD 40 suggestion a shot tomorrow afternoon and report any progress.

Also check as you clean it...for the two metal holders that contact and hold the bulb. If they are not holding the bulb snug and if they seem a bit worn, take steel wool to metal..or that wire brush used to clean battery terminal. MAKE SURE THE BRUSH IS CLEAN AND DEVOID OF BATTERY POWDER ACID!

I thought I'd add one last thing, but I doubt it has anything to do with it:
I also have the homelink overhead thing installed.
To get power, I pushed some wires into the back of the traditional overhead light.
No solder or crimping. Minimal modification of the original overhead light.

This is what I get for not looking at it before I made a thread.
            Oh well. Damn easy fix.
