    Help ID these wires please

I posted this in my MR but figured I would get more help here.

    Here is the first one:

It's rather thick and im assuming it's a ground to somewhere. It's black with a yellow strip.

    The second one is this:

It's the small red one near the top just above the green wire on the left. I had an alarm system installed back in 2006 by best buy. Not sure if they clipped it or what. Any ideas?
Remember they are part of the driver side harness.

I can get a better picture of the red one tomorrow

Both the Haynes and Chiltons manuals have exhaustive wiring diagrams.

black/yellow is usually ignition positive, not ground. where it leads depends where it comes from though. No idea on the red wire.

If memory serves correct, that BLK/YEL is from Fuse #2 underdash.

The only red wire I know of is Injector #2.

Need the exact coloring on the red wire.

Just found the other red wire. It is going to the cruise control unit.

Ok so I am having trouble deciphering Haynes wiring diagram. I have found multiple wires that are red and blk/yel. If I could figure out how to translate in proportion to the vehicle I could figure out which wires these are.

So from what I think I understand, the alphabet is if you were looking from the hood towards the trunk. "A" would be the passenger side corner and "E" would be the driver side correct?

Then the numbers at the top and bottom are in relationship to the position walking along side the car correct?

If this is the case how much are the increments?

I have found that the red wire seems to be to bulbs or indicators. There were two spots where the red was either for cruise control which i no longer have. Or for #2 injector which would be on the main engine harness.

The black/yellow wire is not so easy. That colors code is everywhere.

actually, the battleship-map style numbering of the wiring diagrams actually references other pages/sections of the diagram - not placement within the car. So lets say a Wire leads out of a device, and it is supposed to connect to the fusebox on another page of the diagram - the wire will lead to something like "A-5" which means the diagram page with that area displayed. Then you will see the "other half" of the wire continuing where it left off.

You should see the markers along the edges of the pages ....

Hmm im not really following. It's sad I am an electrican in the navy and I can't figure out this diagram. I understand what your saying, were if a wire leads to the end of a page it would have a-5 on it. So I would go to row A and column 5. That's exactly how our wire diagrams are, But the Haynes manual doesn't do that it goes wire then the device name. And it doesn't list the location of the device. Like in other diagrams it would give you a reference like device is in section e5 of the car.

I'm trying to find the wire bundle for the driver side.

Ok so I had an ah Ha moment, I blew straight past the legend on the front page. So now I understand what you were saying mike. Now I just need to figure out which wires are close to that wire and work from there.

So for future reference for people who may run into this issue. I went to a junkyard and looked at the harness on a car. Apparently the thick black with yellow stripe wire goes to the windshield washer reservoir. Since I don't have that anymore i plan to cut it short, label it and put clear shrink wrap around it for future identification.

Also I believe the red wire goes to the cruise control but I couldn't find a complete harness with cruise control in it at the junkyard. So I may have to go back when I get back and take a look.
