I got a 92 accord ex 5 speed. I am replacing the alternator belt and that 6 piece adjusting assembly(adjustment bolt, etc) for the alternator. It was missing from car for some reason. Do i have to remove the power steering pump you think to do this. I think just removing the cruise control assembly will give me enough access to the belt and bolts. I think removing the power steering pump is only if you intend to remove the alternator completely. Is this correct? Seems like a stupid question but i like to make sure of things before i fk something up.

A DIY I did a few years ago. Not the best but may help explain the process.

Removing the power steering pump will make it easier since you are having issues with the tensioner assembly. Removing the power steering pump may enable you to understand and better yet see what you are working with.

I looked at diagram and i see the alternator belt is the inside belt. So am guessing that is the reason. I checked the belt and it seemed in good shape even though it has to be at least 4 years old. So I am just going to put in that adjustment assembly. As all i want to do is install the alternator adjustment bolt(it was missing from car) so i can adjust the alt belt(it is a little loose).Originally posted by F22Chris View PostYes remove the power steering.

I did it once without removing the power steering pump. So it's possible. I would recommend removing the pump leaving all hoses hooked up and slide your reservoir and all out of the way. The tensioner bolt that has thread in the head be attained from the j/y From many Hondas. The bolt you turn to adjust tension needs to be from a cb7 or the same length from a hardware store. The retainer bracket for that bolt with two ten mm bolts holding it can come from many Hondas.......father in law has it back again. Time to shine

all done, yes it is 6 pieces total. 3 bolts total, 1 clip , the adjusting bracket itself and the nut that goes over the bottom thru bolt. I didn't change the belt. When i have to change the alternator belt i will just cut the PS belt and alt belt from the pulleys and replace both at once. That seems the easiest way to do it to me.Originally posted by F22Chris View PostThe extra three bolts removed will save you time and frustration for sure. Was it really a six piece tensioner? If I remember correctly, it's a a bit simpler than that.
