    Leaking water from behind block

    I have a 1993 Honda Accord with F22az. I have an overheating problem but not like any others posted in the forums. My car leaks water out of a valve found on the cam cover side of the block. What is this little open valve? is it suppose to be blocked? How do I fix?????

    Did you remove the cam cover and inspect this? Confirm that this is not the waterpump first.

      * Not to whore*
      But doing my balancing shaft belt I noticed a drip-drip-drip coming from a small hole slightly to the right of the timing belt on the back of the black (when looking at the block from the back ((fire wall) side) The hole is about 1/4" right ownerofheap? Water was slightly greenish tint?

        Its called a bleeder valve I believe...someone correct me if i am wrong. The water pump in my dads van has one in there. We replaced it and it stopped dripping. I dont remember if our waterpumps have the same hole. If so waterpump needs replacing. Thanks zipcreature for that info. But I may be wrong at the same time cause i am thinking about a completely different vehicle.

                Yep, thats probably the waterpump that is leaking. That little hole that ya'll are referring to is called a "weep hole". When the waterpump internal seal starts to leak, this passage diverts the coolant away from the waterpump bearing. If you start to see coolant seaping out of that hole...even just a little bit, it means that the waterpump is going bad and needs to be replaced.

                    don't cry over weeping water pumps. they're supposed to weep a little here and there.. that's why the hole is there. if you're getting water from behind the engine, it could have something to do with heater hoses or the oil cooler (if your car has one.)

                      That sounds like a Service News article. Even so, I still wouldn't want to take the chance....if its leaking, replace it.
