    serious engine problems

Hey guys i have a serious problem. I went to take my car to get inspection about 2 days ago. It wasn't until i put the car in 4th that i heard a loud pop from the front. I pulled to the side, the engine runs and the tranny is still good. But last night i was drivin home and the car started to hesitate. It started to miss fire when i got to my house. I dicided to change the plugs, because i got new wires and cap. But it continued to hesitated. When i started the car this mourning, the car felt like it just came off the showroom floor, it ran perfect. The only thing i think is wrong is i got bad wires or i need a tune up. I have all ready done a compression test and everthing was smooth. All that is done to the car is intake and exhaust. PLease help me with my problem!!!

It could be the distrubitor. Did you notice if the tach was jumping?

the tach is not jumping. And the whole distributor looks good. The rotor is clean. But the car feels like i have three cylinders. Its sounds like a scuby. The question is how do i fix the problem.

How is it running now? At the end of your first post, you said it was running perfectly now... is it still running like that?

              maybe dirty EGR ports?

that might help with the hesitiating but i dont know about the whole sounding like 3 cylinders thing...

Just by asking what part would the EGR valve have to deal with the problem. How would i clean it anyway.
