    Which tranny to get?

Looks like my car will be needing a new tranny and so I wanted to know what you guys recommend. I have the stock motor right now and plan on keeping it that way for a while unless he could swap in an H22 for $1k or less in addition to what the tranny will cost.

I have a 5 speed manual in my 91 Accord LX right now and wanted to know if I should just go with the same tranny it has or if there's another tranny I should get.

Anything else that I should have changed while they'll be changing the tranny? I don't mind taking advantage of the situation and swapping another thing or two out incase it's easier in the process.

    Thanks!

If you plan on keeping the stock motor, then your best bet is probably a stock replacement tranny. The only thing that would behoove you to swap out while you're in there would be the clutch, pressure plate and possibly the flywheel (at least have it resurfaced). I can't think of anything else at the moment...

Accords are for winners. And Grandmothers. But mostly winners.

Ok, that makes sense. Do you think mechanics will be able to get the H22 motor any cheaper than places online?

I'm going to ask him for a price quote at least to see what he'll charge. How does the H22's tranny compare? As in, shorter/taller gearing?

It dosen't hurt to ask, but usually mechanics aren't going to get you the hook up on h22's. Or any engine for that matter. You may check some local junk yards and see what turns up.

I think all of your tranny questions can be answered here in this thread. Really good info!

Well if you know a mechanic really well he might give you a deal. I got mine for 1750 with tranny and ECU but the ECU was fucked up and he gave me credit for it.
