    blower motor...

in my grey cb7 it completely stopped working out of nowhere. turn the fan speed knob and... nothing.

i tried a new knob, new blower motor assembly, checked every fuse a couple times, and even tried replacing the relays i had extras of... and nothing.

its confusing the heck out of me, and i dont know what else to try. tomorrow when its warm and light again im going to try hooking up an extra dashboard harness that i have, and if that doesnt help, im going to test continuity for every wire related.

it worked fine when i parked the car a couple days ago, i literally didnt even touch my hand to the car until i started it today, and the fan is no longer working, and its frustrating.

anybody know which of the relays in the driver side fusebox is for the blower motor? or, anybody know which relay is which? cant find it in any manuals. its a 90 EX, FYI.

or any other suggestions for things to check/try, thatd work too

are the wires kinda loose and shit that go into the blower motor itself? I know when i jsut took mine out the wires was a bit loose...so are yours?

its not any of the plugs or any of the visible wiring.

two things: when i turn the fan knob on, the glove box light turns on. turns off when i turn it off, too. also, the hazards dont work at all.

im going to replace the dashboard part of the interior harness since thats easy to do and i have an extra one, then im gonna check the ground points, hopefully itll work by then. the dashboard has been removed before in the past from what i can tell, so who knows what somebody did to it. the only wiring anybody has ever touched is probably just the dashboard harness, im assuming nothing behind the driver fusebox... so after replacing that, hopefully if it was just a wiring issue, itll be taken care of. but we will see.

...still hoping to find out which relay is which, if anybody knows.

edit: found out, thanks honda OEM diagrams. ummm... the blower motor relay is along the bottom row in the center, and thats one of the ones i tried replacing. no luck.

Hmm... have you tried a circuit tester, or a voltmeter to see if you're getting juice?

          yes, with imprecise results.

its ok, since i dont trust the wiring anyway. that seems like what i have it narrowed down to, ive tried replacing/testing all the components. the first thing ill do when i work on it tomorrow is try hooking up that extra dash harness i have to see if it fixes the problem. im guessing that it will, since the four electrical problems happening in the car are closely related to each other electrically (if you check the wiring diagrams) even though they seem so varied. its def possible that only one problematic spot within the dash harness could be causing all of them...

Damn that must really suck too bad i dont have any of those problems . But the thing about it is that ive noticed one one problem goes out on any of our electricals it takes someting else down with it. Id check all the fuses and relays cant you jump the blower motor though to make sure it actually works too my boy tried that with his.

And as for the hazard lights does it even illuminate id check that intermediate switch relay under the dash. I had it go bad one time and that caused one great deal of headache. Anyways sorry about the cb7 breakin on you and all thats the thing youd least suspect when trying to runt he car perfectly without any worries its like shit pops up but it tries to stay out of your reach of being fixed properly at times. And when it does get fixed its the littlest thing and it manages to wreck havoc.

It really is a labor of love making a neglected CB7 with "normal wear and tear" into something worth being proud of.

No there are actually ones that figured out this problem already but are either too lazy to post or too busy. Not gonna say any names though. Time to play electrician. I already got my game downpacked after pwrusr1 helpd me out on how to diagnose stuff like that.

welp tried the new dash harness, plugged it all in and the new blower motor blew fine. harness was from a 93 EX so i didnt wanna use it in the 90 (SRS/ABS/SS/etc), so i deloomed the whole 90 harness and found not a single thing wrong, so i plugged it all back in (no loom) and the blower motor worked? so i taped it all back up and hopefully it will still work when i reassemble everything

Its very odd, it has been working on and off this whole weekend, seems like after i travel for about a mile or so, the fan starts working, maybe i have a loose connection somewhere?

Good job! If only my blower had such simple problems T.T (Damn motor brushes wore down to nothing.)

Could be a loose connection or it could be the blower motor itself going. The brushes inside the motor that maintain an electrical connection with the commutator wear down with use (as does the commutator itself.)

Try jumping the blower motor to see if it's in good electrical condition internally.)
