I hate A/C systems and always yank them out of my personal vehicles...but I'm certified for A/C repair and have done tons of conversions and repair work. Go figure

    My Accord History:
    91 EX 2dr : 91 EX 2dr : 91 LX 4dr : 93 EX 2dr : 86 LXi 2dr : 92 LX 4dr : 92 EX 4dr

All he did was recharge the sys, then I moved to San Diego and it wasnt quite as bad. I remember when I first had the accord with r12 and how my cheeks would freeze b/c it was so cold . This has never happened with r134a

I come from an area of the Sonoran/Mojave dessert where temps routinely exceed 130 degrees F, and every R134a system I have ever seen works just fine. Unless it is low on refrigerant or was done improperly.

I honestly don't think it is the refrigerant. But that is just me.

Of course, the CB7's AC system isn't really overpowered in temps like that to begin with... even with R12.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I am going to take my car to an A/C mechanic. From what I have heard, he does good work. Seems like most people are happy with r134a. I'll keep everyone posted on this matter but I wont get my car fixed until at least two weeks or the begining of June b/c thats when school ends. Will let you know what the problem was and if I did go back to r12. I dont like messing with A/C stuff.

I've always thought R12 to produce colder air than R134a. When my compressor died in '03 I wanted to keep with R12, but as you know its purposely been forced into a pretty tight market.
I've noted older refrigerators seems colder at the same settings as well w/o R134a. Then again, I've noted that R134a seems to work better in vehicles that have always had it.

I didn't think shops could legally convert a vehicle back to R12 once is has R134a.
