radar detector cries wolf at WOT

ive got a passport escort..and when i go wot or 75% it screams laser...

im thinking it has to do with a change in voltage or spike in voltage when i punch it...

im thinking it also has to do with my ebay ground kit..

any body else have this problem of there radar detector giving false alarms at WOT..

this is not a cheap radar detector either...i paid around 300

It's interference from the Distributor.... Get a new cap and rotor and you should be fine, also is centered on the windshield. That's where it should be

Im the Radar Detector pro on here.

      Valentine one for the win.

also id say it could be those wires alternator voltage regulator could be going bad on your car (charging more under acceleration than when coasting due to higher engine RPM), the resultant voltage spike could cause the laser false in your 8500. Capacitors and re-wiring wont fix that.
If you have a battery gauge on your car watch and see if spikes under acceleration, if you dont then go to autozone or a service center and get them to test it.

hmm just replaced the dizzy cap recently..maybe a few months ago

and yes its centered on the windshield...

so maybe it is the alternator voltage regulator..or my alternator is going bad....

the only thing im certain on is its gotta be something electrical..... maybe my msd box ..this just started happening recently... i think after i installed my a/f gauge...i dunno...ill recheck under the engine bay.

its a pain getting a false laser at WOT..talk about annoying...

Haha...that would be awesome if you could get it to go off like that when VTEC kicked in.

Maple, how high up on your windshield do you have your Valentine? Do you keep yours below the brown tint strip?
