idle problem.. different than what i've read..

Okay i was just driving around and all of a sudden i come to a stop light and notice its idling at 1400rpms and holding.. WTF. so i bring it home and do all the checks..

    -no vacuum leaks
    -no CEL's
-IAC is getting correct ohms and voltage
-FIV is all the way tight
    -IAC screen is clean

i have no idea what this is..

sometimes when i start up it'll sit at 1400rpms for like 30 seconds then go down to normal.. other times it'll start up and idle normal. i don't get it!

i've reset the ecu like 5 times after doing everything. I haven't had an idle problem for 2 years and this one i CANNOT figure out for the life of me!

When its doing this.. if i ease on the throttle in neutral it sounds like its running a little more rough than normal TILL above 1500rpms and everything runs perfectly normal. power is still there.. just at idle its acting weird.

ALSO most importantly is when i adjust the idle screw, its ALL THE WAY TIGHT and it idles at 900rpm.. usually when i do this all the way down it basically wants to die.. so right now my idle screw is all the way closed and its still at 900rpm.. and remember i was driving around and all of a sudden it happened outta no where. PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!!

its either you have a leak somewhere or the throttle body gasket is shot!!

no leaks at the throttle body gasket, no leaks at the intake manifold gasket... sprayed soapy water while the car was running. no idle changes and no bubbles.

instead of using soapy water, try something like carb cleaner. That is how I found my leaking intake manifold gasket, where it leaked, when sprayed the engine would revv up (burning the carb cleaner)...............just a thought...
