Yes, there are no real problems there. The only differences between them, though, are cam profile and intake manifold. The rest is all the same. So if the A4 is in good shape, then just save yourself the hassle and swap the intake manifold and camshaft. They are much cheaper too...

so if i have a complete a6 engine with ecu why would the intake and cam have to be changed? Just curious

Because you'd be wasting effort to swap the whole motor. Internally they are the same. The only differences are cam, intake manifold, exhaust manifold/header and ECU. Swapping those things over is much simpler then swapping engines. You'll see the same gains. The only question is, is your current motor in good shape.

no this engine has a bad bearing and needs to be replaced. So i found a complete a6 that i want to swap over and i just wanted to know if this engine would go right in or if i would have to change alot of things

In that case its a direct swap. IIRC the only difference will be that you'll need to wire up the IAB (really simple, one wire to pin A17, the other to switched +12). As for the distributor, you can just swap on the old one if you want.

Are you sure the cams are different? I thought all F22A cams were the same. Anyone have specs?

wow wow wow. every engine and tranny of 4th generation accords are the same. they are all boltons and that is all u need to know if u wanna do a swap. the only difference that i am aware is the exaust manifold of the ex models (4-2-1) and lx and dx have a (4-1) u don't need to change any ecu or rewire stuff around. just use the ur old distributor and u will have no problems. so just go ahead and swap that motherfucker and drive that shit around dude
                  good luck

Hey, if you don't know what you are talking about, then STFU! The A6 engine has a dual runner intake manifold and higher profile camshaft. Don't argue with me on this one, I have the manuals and the damn engine.

umm yeah... dont say anything like its truth unless youve seen it/experienced it yourself. if youve heard it from a friend who read it somewhere on some site posted by some kid who heard it somewhere, chances are its probably not entirely true... theres a lot of crap floating around the net about swaps... but nutbucket and kabuki are absolutely right.

According to my 1991 factory service manual:
