    Car shaking after AFT change???

Today i drained trans fuild once and then i put in some maxlife atf. But i drove it around for a while and when i was at a light stoped my car started to shake and the rpms droped and the car shook even worse. But then when i put it into N it stoped. It only does it when stoped at a light in drive. What could it be to much oil? not enough. I checked it and it was on the mark. When are u suppose to check it when running or can u check it witht the engine off? And does it have to be on the top mark or can it be a little over? Can any one help.

sounds like engine mounts to me, not atf. not sure why it would show up after changing the fluid though.

That's definately not a good thing..
It sounds as though the torque converter is starting to lock up.
Another possibility is the lockup solenoid is being activated at idle.
Neither problem is a DIY. Have it checked out.

Thats the same thing i was thinking. Its locking up and making my engine want to stall so the rpms drop. Maybe i will just drop a new trans in there.

let the car sit on a level surface for an hour
and check the fluid level. i bet its over filled.

if u still dont like it, drain and fill again.

did u use the atf for dextron 3?

i have good experiance with valvaline atf with shudder protection...

do it again or just recheck the fluid level.

smell the fluid too...isit a burnt smell or smells like atf? color..is it red or brown....
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

yes its dextron 3 maxlife and i let some out the other day and drove it today for a while and it did it only after driving around for a while. It does it when only driving around for a while. If it still does it i will just refill it with some new fuild agian.

so it only does it when the fluid has reached its normal operating temp, correct???
