If you have a quality socket made for plugs, I don't see it as a problem. But then again, a lot of stuff made in china is coming back w/ defects.

spark plug socket has the rubber in it.

SURE guys do it all the time...so did I...but one day...that rubber came off...and I didn't realize it cause it was the last one...went to do my plugs again...and that rubber piece expanded...and had oil on it...no good...

so just save some trouble...use the rubber to get out...go straight meat to put in...I mean no rubber to go in...
      Yeah that is a bitch.

The rubber thing happened to me once. Man that pissed me off!

I have always just used a 16MM deep socket and a 6" extension.

Of course a dedicated spark plug wrench works too, but I have never had a problem.

Aint nothin like pulling the plug out. I havent had an issue with the rubber falling out. Then I do have a magnetic and a rubber one so it really doesnt matter.

ninja edit: I always use the socket to put back in the plug regardless...Last thing you want to do is drop the plug back into the hole and damaging the electrode at the end.
