    Removing DS Axle from Intermediate

I posted a couple days ago in the CV Axle Replacement DIY thread. I am having trouble removing the Driver Side Axle from the Intermediate shaft. I thought it would just slide out but seems to be stuck. Is there a special tool to use or will I be safe using a pry bar or something similar. I dont want to ruin my intermediate shaft as I need it to finish my swap. I would also like to get this axle out so I can return both my old Passenger side and Driver side axles to get my $75.00 core deposit back. Thanks for the help guys.

I'd try taking the whole thing off, and then maybe using a vice to hold the intermediate shaft while you try to separate them. I'm sure that it will come apart, but it'll probably be a PITA.

yeh, its all ready off the car, i tried using a big flathead to pry them, and it started moving slightly so if i get something bigger and just keep on going around and around i think it will come off. i just wanted to make sure that a pry bar was a safe possibility for this, and hope it doesnt turn into a real PITA. thanks for the help.

Thats the best way to get it off.

I had this problem recently. What I did was clam the axle into a vice and hit the bracket on the intermediate shaft. I had to hit it quite a few times to get it to come loose.

ive run into a couple ones that were actually seized together!!

a big flathead or a crowbar and a hammer always helps, but if its not comin out, it may be stuck.

this one axle mayberry had, they were taken out together, put into a table vice, and beat to all hell with a sledgehammer, and they never separated. go figure...

^Wow! The DS axle never gave me any trouble on my CB, it's necessary to use impact like force instead of constant prying, that's what I've found.
