    Need Help (Engine Trouble)

Ok, my mom is having trouble with her car. It's a 1997 Accord SE Auto. Car came with F22B2 Non-VTEC SOHC 2.2L, the engine died last year so we replaced it with an F22B1 VTEC SOHC 2.2L out of a wrecked 1995 Accord EX. I know that the Accord SE is OBDII and that the ECU for the the engine we put in won't plug in so I have to get an OBDII to OBDI conversion harness and wire the car for VTEC function. The car is running on the F22B2 ECU at the moment but it's throwing the CEL. What do you all suggest I do to get the car running properly? Does anyone know the ECU part# for the 1997 Accord EX SOHC YTEC? The only thing I can think of know is to put another F22B2 back into the car and be done with it but, that would be working backwards since the VTEC motor is the same from 1995-1997 and the motor is already in the car. My mom doesn't want to sell the car due to it's condition and cleanliness but, she is starting to get fed up. Can you guy's help me please?

sounds like you already answered your own question.

Get obd2-obd1 conversion and use the proper ecu. You can't troubleshoot with the wrong equipment.

Do they make a OBDII to OBDI conversion harness for an Automatic Tranny car though. By switching from OBDII to OBDI, will the car still be able to pass inspection?

Damn, so will have to get hook-up jobs on car inspections. I haven't searched to see if there is a harness for Auto's yet.

I know there is a site that sells OBDII-OBDI conversion harnesses, do a Google on that, I don't see why they would limit it based on 5spd or auto. Contact the people below, speak with them and confirm what part you need.

              http://www.xenocron.com/catalog/obd-harness-c-29.html

Get the right ECU as well, that should not be hard to find. Look at www.car-part.com and locate it based on a VTEC 94-97 Accord with auto tranny.

You did answer your questions, just pursue it. At this point you already have the motor in the car, it runs, but not well. Just get the missing equipment and you should be fine. You would lose out too much if you did otherwise at this point.
