    bad misfireing problem?

I have a H22A4 with a pretty bad problem whenever I get on the gas peddle. it feels like one of the plugs isn't fireing or fireing right before the pistons get to TDC. Everytime it misfires the Check Engine light blinks for a split secound. I took the spark plug wire cover off to find that ALL FOUR spark plug wires were loose That must have happend when I had the timing belt replaced a few months ago I took it out for a drive and found it drove fine for about five minutes, ran fine... took it out 15 minutes later to drive home ~20 minutes and it started mising badly again.

Thinking it was a problem with the spark plugs at first I replaced them (old ones were NGK PZFR6F 11) with some NGK Iridium IX plugs. the old plugs were indeed in need of replacement. The plugs came pregaped at ~41. I searched around the net earlier this morning and found the best setting to be .43ish. So I gaped them put them in and took the car out for a test drive. WOW did it feel ALOT better.. at first anyway.

About 30-40minuts of driving the car started to miss again. I brought the car home and looked at the spark plug wires and saw that a couple of them were chared on the metal inside the plug wire (must have been from when they were loose). The plug wires are nology hot wires with only ~15k miles on them. I don't think the wires are bad. however the plugs inside the wires look like they've seen better days

So with that, what do you guys think the problem(s) could be??

I'm thinking spark plug wires are something I should think about getting. But I'm unsure about the other ignition components.

Are you sure its not a loose or severed connection. Is the distributor plugs on tight and everything I dont think you really needed to gap them. The check engine light came on are you gettin any codes. I would reset the ecu just incase and check the timing. Make sure everything is buckled down tight.

I checked all the spark plug wires and all the distributor wires too, all are in good shape, nice and tight.

Well I already gaped them to .43 ran fine when I first started it up and 30minutes thereafter.

I reset the ECU as well no change, infact maybe even a little worse
I checked for a code and nothing came up.

Dont drive it until this gets resolved. You gapped them yourself or they came pregapped?

Yeah that was my idea on what to do as of right now. I gaped them myself.

I just went outside and took another look at it. I let the car idle a bit and it wasn't mis fireing. reved it once and no miss...
it only seems to miss fire when the engine is fully warmed up and under load (after I put it into gear). I'm suspecting the distrib or the coil itself right now.

Open up and look at the cam see if anything looks out of the ordinary like if the inside is covered in orange dust.

I also took a look at the plugs. they looked a little rough. so I think they need to be regaped.

              any other thoughts?

do you mean take the valve cover off?
or pop the plugs out and look into the cylender with a flashlight?

ok will do. though I'll have to do it a little later since the heavens just opened up outside.

                      (not my picture)
as for how the plugs look:

the center white part is still white bur the metal around the white part is black. the center still looks brand spankin' new. but around that it looks alot like the older plug above. my old plugs are torn up and look a little worse then the old plug above.

Any speckles on the plugs? If the white is speckled, I believe that is a sign of detonation... Be VERY careful. Have you heard anything wrong?

the electrodes inside the distributor look a little burnt up. The electrodes look like they have a thin white crust on them with a dark spot in the middle of the surface.
The rotor itself looks like it's seen better days... looks like little dark spots on the rotors surface.
