That would be the engine out of the Acura Vigor. I'm sure there is a forum around someplace that is dedicated to them. As far as swapping one in, it would be extremely difficult and would require quite a bit of fabrication because it is a N/S mounted engine instead of transverse, like the Accords. I don't think I've ever seen any of the common mods (I/H/E) made for them, so it might require some custom work just to get simple bolt ons.

As far as power goes, I think they fall in between the H23 and H22. The Wiki Article on the G engine (which is that engine) says 176 HP and 170 torque. I'd imagine that you could pick up a lot of torque doing some mods, because it is an inline.

So, as far as swapping, I think the H22A would still be a better swap, just for strict ease of doing it. Although, it would be interesting to see what could be done with that engine. I think that you would be going into largely uncharted territory, though. I'm sure there is a forum dedicated to them someplace, though. Try Google.

Not only just fabricating how the engine site you have to mod it to wher eti will line up with the trans since it is a unit with the motor itself.

volvo motor 5 cylinders are rwd. You would have to figure a way to convert.

It was the engine in the 1993-97 Ascot/Rafaga. It was longitudinally mounted, and wafflefries is correct, the driveshaft came back through the oil sump to the differential at the front.

The 850 on was FWD or AWD depending on model.

The G20\G25 was longitudinally mounted as in the pic.

and yes, the shaft goes thru the oilsump. Doing any gearbox maintenence on the Inspire\Vigor was a pain.

                      BIG PAIN.

The Acura 2.5TL also had the 5 cylinder engine with the "normal" engine&tranny mounting geometry except that the differential is incorporated into the engine oil pan.

You'd think they would suck to remove but really aren't that bad. Disconnect the tranny from the engine, remove radiator and the engine lifts right up with no clearance issues. I swapped a blown one out and it took my working by myself no more than 5 hours to remove. Very smooth running engine, sounded a little strange but not bad. The biggest advantage to this type of engine/tranny FWD setup is that the front/rear weight distribution is much better giving the car a more neutral feel naturally.

Oh yeah....these engines also have IAB's in the intake!

The Ascot and Rafaga were based on the CB7 chassis.

                              Not that gen Ascot.

The SM3 Ascot and SN7 Ascot Innova were CB based.

The Rafaga had a bespoke chassis, quite similar with the Inspire/Vigor
