    Quick ? about opening lights

I know the blackhouse DIY says 225° for like 10 minutes, does that apply to all lights? Tails and corners?

And is there any kind of technique or anything to setting them in the oven? I mean i dont think it'll get hot enough to melt the light itself, but i dont wanna set them on a pan and it burn a flat spot in the light.

225* for 10 minutes is head lights only, as they are glass, others (corners/signals) will start to deform.

I just set the head lights on the oven rack, glass down.

        Ok.

What about like the tail lights and corners? Do you think theyd be ok on a cookie sheet for like 4 or 5 minutes?

No idea, there are a few threads about it floating around, but I can never seem to find them...

I managed to open some stock corners with nothing more than a sharp razorblade. They aren't glued the same way the headlights are, it's much harder in comparison, almost like superglue, kinda welded the plastics together. It's a really thin bead though so it's fairly easy.

I'll try opening the corners by hand. As for the tails, ill look to see if i have a hairdryer. If not, i may have to just set them in a 225° oven with the door cracked and just watch them.

When I tried an extra 92-93 tail I had, it was a nightmare. The clear reverse lens melted for some reason, I did it at 225 and for whatever reason, it caved in like hell.

I really want to see some 92-93 tails and amber corners blackhoused! LOL.

I couldve done mine, but fuck that. It WAS a nightmare getting that thing open. And when i finally did get it open it was all sticky and it was a mess. I wasnt about try and heat up all that shit and pull it off, so i just did my best to run new silicone over the old. I fit into all the cracks and crevices, and when i got it back together i did a thin line around some of the more open sides. Hopefully itll do.

I really hope the headlights are this difficult. Least i can put them in the oven.

well it wouldnt be difficult if you had done what people told you.

                          heat gun...

and headlights are simple, infact i dont think you can possibly mess them up.

why did you start a whole new thread for this question?

it would of been a lot smarter to post this question in the black housing DIY thread.
