Thank you for the DIY. I did all the steps described above to delete the canister in my F22 Civic. I also removed the purge valve and plugged the IM port it was connected to.

There is one thing I am confused about.
The canister drain hose goes down and into some type of a plastic fitting. I noticed that there is also another smaller hose connected to that plastic fitting. That smaller hose was not connected to anything, it was just hanging.
I think maybe I disconnected it before and forgot about it. Do you have any idea what hose I am talking about and what it should be connected to? Thanks.

These directions were confusing to me. You make it sound like there are two red hoses, one longer and one shorter? I only had one long red braided hose that went from the top of the throttle body to the charcoal canister.

I took the black rubber hose that went from the fuel vapor hardline off, and then put one end of the long red hose on that hardline, and left the other end still on the throttle body. Then I took the entire charcoal canister out all together.

The way you said to do it just didn't make sense compared to the pieces on my car. Pictures would help.
There are no black and white suspension answers!!!!!!!!!!!

Coupe got into an accident awhile ago. When removing drivers' side front fender there was a black canister smashed up. I removed it and the tubing. Is this the "charcoal canister"? Can I put another tube and some small can to satisfy California emissions when smog test comes?

Oct5th update: Just learned that it is a evap canister and very much needed for the smog check..in fact that part of the test adds $10.

I have found some problems with deleting this canister. When its really damn hot outside my wagon doesnt want to crank up at all along with the Civic. And I beleive my gas mileage took a major hit.
