Tools:
Drill (preferrably a corded drill) i started with a cordless
(2) 3/8" drill bit
12mm wrench
12mm socket
10mm wrench
10mm socket
cutting oil
Parts:
(8) 3" wide x 1.5" thick x 9" long steel plates
(4) 5/16" x 1.5" bolts
(4) 5/16" x 4" bolts
(8) 5/16" stop nuts
(4) compression sleeves with a 1/2" outer diameter
2 CRX Si seats
OK... I started by picking these seats up out of a CRX Si. I paid 50 bux for the pair.
The seat brackets for the rex seats are to narrow to fit the mounting holes of our cars. So I was stuck either buying the aftermarket brackets or fabbing my own.
DUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!
I fabbed my own.
Remove seats from the car.
Remove seat brackets off of accord seats. you have to cut the seat up the side to access the bolts.
once removed take a drill with a 3/8" drill bit and drill out the rivets and welds for the triangular bracket and the side mount bracket.
once this is done you will need to beat the brackets loose. The sidemount one slides off so be careful not to try to beat it off.
Once those are off grind down the top of the accord brackets to leave a smooth surface to work with.
Reinstall the accord brackets back in the car.
measure the CRX slider for the first bolt hole. and then transfer the measurement to the accord bracket. Using the 3/8" bit drill the hole out.
measure 12" from center of that hole to the rear of the bracket and make a mark. Drill that out. follow these instructions for all four brackets.
now take the 8 pieces of 1.5"x3" steel plates and drill the hole for the bracketmount and mount the plate using a 5/16"x 1.5" bolt with a stop nut. Stop nuts MUST be on top so it does not catch the slider.
once all eight are attatched measure out the distance from center to center on each bolt. Now subtract 15 from that number and divide by 2. Now that you have a headache take the number and measure out from the bolt to the amount you need. Now drill the holes.
Now remove the brackets from the car.
Remove the brackets from the CRX seats retaining the factory bolts.
Using the retained bolts mount the accord brackets to the crx seats. Now on the inner side of the seat You have to use the compression sleeves you have bought and the 5/16"x 4" bolts and stop nuts.
Now mount the seats back in the car and VIOLA!!!!! OE honda seats from a CRX Si, fit the accord.
I will get pics of the seat plates I did.
