    H22 Swap Pics

Well...it was one HELL of a weekend, but we did it.
It only took us about 18 hours before we had the H22 running.
There's still some gremlins to be worked out though.

    1998 OBDII H22A4
    1995 H23 Tranny (M2S4)
1992 Civic OBDI ECU (P28, chipped for H22)
installed into a 1992 Accord LX

    Started Friday night at 10pm

This is what we had done by Friday night at 12pm. Battery, Radiator, Power Stearing Pump, Alternator, Cruise Control, Intake...all disconnected.

    Our mess of tools.

Saturday morning. My friend is paying more attention to his new CBRR than to my engine swap.

My mechanic friend (on the right), and me (on the left), trying to get everything disconnected from the F22.

    Out with the old.

    My Flinstone's Pose.

    In with the new.

All bolted in. Now comes the tough part...reconnecting everything.

    All back together.

My friend playing with the vacuum lines, trying to get a better idle.

              tools we used:
              - a good set of metric ratchet wrenches
              - a good set of metric sockets (deep and shallow sockets. 1/4'',3/8'',1/2'' drives)
              - a set of extensions
              - a big breaker bar
              - a set of picks
              - assorted pliers (needle nose, regular, etc)
              - wire cutters
              - vise grips
              - crimping tool
              - wire stripper
              - utility knife
              - air ratchet
              - a powerful impact wrench (mainly for the axle nuts)
              - a set of impact sockets
              - compressor
              - a 36mm socket for axle nuts
              - o2 sensor socket
              - a set of screwdivers (phillips, flat head, etc)
              - a magnetic pick-up tool
              - TONS of rags
              - a couple big buckets
              - timing gun
              - engine hoist (with load leveler)
              - a set of mini screwdriver (for getting ECU pins out)
              - small chisel
              - pry bar set
              - jack
              - 4 jack stands
              - a good flashlight
              - bright work lights
              - tourqe wrench
              - "S" drill bit
              - 10x1.25 tap
              - tap handle
              - drill
              - tapping fluid
              - ball peen hammer
              - soft blow hammer
              - creeper
              - WD40
              - brake cleaner
              - multi-meter
              - lots of beer

im sure there's more, but i cant think of them right now.
i strongly recommend using air tools, it's makes it a helluva lot easier.

              as for motor parts:
1998 H22A4 engine and exhaust (exhaust was too short, had to extend it)
1995 OBDI H23 Tranny, distributer, and injectors
1992 OBDI P28 Civic ECU, chipped by www.racingchips.com for H22
1992 F22 Power Steering pump and bracket (only two holes line up, one has to be shimmed...and it's very very close to the hood. I also had to buy a longer belt, i believe it was 44'' long), wiring harness (had to change the EGR plug to a prelude one), axles, motor mounts (had to put the accord front bracket on to the H22)

              any questions, please pm me

as for the idle, i thought we had a vacuum leak, but i dont think that is the cause anymore. could be EGR, TPS, or IAC.

sweet. doing the motor by urself. or with a friend is hot shit. imagine doing the swap in a back yard with grass and dirt. i had to put wooden planks all over the place and it was uneven and horrible. but it worked out lol

                great.
