What you are seeing is not an optical illusion or a problem with your brain, I did in fact buy another grey Accord for the princely sum of $600. This one is a '92, color NH561M or charcoal grey pearl. My '91 in the background is NH531M, or charcoal granite metallic.
They're both LXs, but this one is a 5 speed! I've wanted one of these for a long time, and it runs very well, unlike my '91 when I first got it. It feels like the clutch needs flushing and bleeding, and the brakes need some attention.
What's funny is the mileage:
It's got quite a bit more miles on it than my '91, but you can tell this one was taken care of waaaay better (May, 2020: not really way better, but kinda. You'll see). While it's dirty and has quite a few of the same cosmetic issues my '91 had/has, this one goes down the road like an arrow. So much so that I'm thoroughly convinced now that my '91 needs an appointment with the frame machine. I don't think there's any way around it.
I'll post some more pics later
Here's what it needs as of now that I've observed. This list is gonna grow, but likely not by much:
windshield
tires
headlight bulb
A/C is out (I expected it; this is Texas after all)
door handles; they're all flaking
power steering lines
pedal pads
shifter boot redo
radio antenna
trunk floor card
