Ahhh i read about this.

It was done for a Honda commercial but there was already one like it somewhere else...

The U.S. government actually experimented with this idea in the 50s. Their idea was to have the road pass on traffic information such as speed limit, no passing, curve ahead. I think the biggest drawback is the road surface degrades much, much faster and repairs are more difficult, not to mention the expense of upkeep.

That makes sense. I don't imagine repaving that stuff would have been very easy.

I wonder if, as the road top gets worn down and the high points soften and mushroom, the "voice" changes over the years. You could start out with the Vienna Boys Choir and end up with an old blues man with throat cancer.
